The Appearance of Sin

Why is it that people in the church, who claim to love the Lord, sin intentionally? I understand that we're born into sin. It's our nature to sin, our fallen nature, this we get from Adam. But if you believe in the Lord, why would you still be sinning against Him? I also, understand that most in the church don't understand or believe in spiritual matters. But, wouldn't you try to sin a little less? Look at the church, we are supposed be to a light to those who don't believe. But you can't tell the difference between the church and the world. This ought not to be.

Yes, I still sin, I don't mean to sound like I don't and I don't mean to look down on others. But I am aware of spiritual truth and I am seeking the Lord's face and I am seeking His Kingdom and I do confess my sins and ask forgiveness in Jesus' Name.

Most in the church think, in their ignorance, that when they're saved they can do what they want and not be judged or punished, but this is wrong.

I heard a man on the radio talking about people who say they don't go to church because the church is full of hypocrites. The man on the radio then said, you're gonna hate hell.

Here's a couple of verses to prove what I say, that is if you believe the Bible is the Word of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:22

Abstain from all appearance of evil. KJV

This says the appearance of evil is in itself, evil. That means, to me, if you just look like you're sinning, even if you ain't, then you're sinning. We are supposed to walk a humble walk, as did Christ.

1 Timothy 4:1-3

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. KJV

This says many of the church will leave God, led astray by seducing spirits. Look at the church now, it is full of hypocrites, people who are cold, people who'd rather live together, than get married, and vegetarians. Also, people don't believe in spiritual truth, known as strong meat in the Bible.

Contrary to what some believe the whole church isn't going to heaven. I wish everyone was, but it ain't gonna happen that way. The Bible says so. None of us want to hear Jesus say, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity., but many will.

I talked to a friend a bit ago and what she said caused me to write this. What to do, what to do. I know what to do. The only way I can make a difference in anyone's life is through prayer. And that will be, hopefully, something else I can write about, the lack of prayer, Spirit led prayer in the Church.

How can the Bible say so much about prayer and the church isn't doing it. And if they are who are they praying to. Why would you pray to a god that doesn't speak back, as much of the church believes. Father, forgive us our sins. Ignorance is a sin. When it's in the Bible and you don't believe it, that's ignorance.

I'm writing this just to rant a little, I hope y'all enjoy it and I hope it helps someone.

God bless

I want to star off by saying wonderful post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have recently been thinking about sin, evil Satan and God. Yes sin comes in countless ways in the technology. I have always wondered if God is pure.righteous, holy, then why and where did evil and sin come form?

Keep up the great job you are doing with your blog.

Ok.. so I have to admit.. I know this was a serious post.. but the vegetarian comment really made me laugh. Out loud... for real... I dont know, just struck me as funny to add vegetarian to the list with fornication and hypocrisy.

But arent we free to eat how we feel led? I mean, arent we specifically told not to judge people based on the food they eat? I know, your post wasnt about whether we should eat meat or not. I just thought it was funny for some reason.

I agree, the church is full of a lot of lost people. People who claim to know God, and yet there is no evidence that God is living inside them. Its sad actually.

I also think we have to be careful when we say… shouldn’t we be trying to sin less. I mean, YES I agree, we should be sinning less. But to place that as the focus begins to enter into a relationship with law and religiousness.

Let me explain. I believe many in the church judge their relationship with Christ based on the amount of sin in their lives. They work hard at it. Striving and driving towards not sinning. Trying and trying to keep sin at bay in their lives. It soon becomes about not sinning. But you see what that does, it makes sin the focus. I believe the more you focus on sin, well then the clearer it will become right? After all, youre focusing on it.

Imagine if you will two circles. One inside the other. Write SIN inside the inner circle. Now imagine a person standing in the space between the circles and Jesus standing in the space outside of both circles. That’s how a large number of church goers see their relationship with God. The farther you move away from Sin well… then the closer you get to the outer circle… the closer you get to Jesus… right? And likewise, the closer you move towards sin, well then the further you are from Jesus. And that’s how we judge if people are good or bad, based on the amount of sin in their lives.

I believe that’s backwards. In my understanding of the bible, it shows a different picture where Jesus and sin change places. Jesus, becomes the sin. So now draw the same two circles. But this time put Jesus in the middle. Put the person in the space between the two circles. And put sin on the outside of the two circles. Now the focus is no longer sin. The focus is Jesus and the closer you move to Jesus, well then the further you move from sin. But as you begin to move away from Him, you begin to get closer to sin. But the focus you see is, Jesus. And your life is then based on your relationship with Jesus… not… your relationship with sin.

Do you see the difference?

Brian, I love your comment and I'm glad I made you laugh.I understand and wholeheartedly agree with you, our focus must be on Jesus and not sin. I learned this a couple of years ago through a similar example.

bravo:servant21 i just had to go again to a brother,who also happens to be my nephew about living with his girl friend.the scripture was 1st.thes.5.22 i quoted him and told him he was in sin and needed to change his life style.his reaction was that of nashing of teeth and violant reaction,not much different than that of the jewish culture of His day.john3:20 says for everyone practicing evil hates the light,lest his deeds should be exsposed.jesus said this is the condemnation that came into the world that men love darkness rather than light.my actions were purely out of gods love for him.the word says if you see your brother error,go to him that you may save him.even jesus's rebuke of the pharise's was an act of love hoping the would look inside and repent of there self rightisness.evey thing God does is an act of love.thats his nature,thats who he is.
